Snow White is my most favorite Disney’s Princess. She is beautiful -skin as white as snow, hair as black as night, lips as red as blood-, she is adorable, & everyone loves her, except one absolutely, her step mother. I do not know why, but I think Snow White is the most interesting fairytale princess among all, because now there are 2 movies based on her tale, Mirror Mirror and Snow White and The Huntsman. Now, the movie that I want to review is Mirror Mirror because I have watched this one.
As we know, Snow White has known as a weak, mild, and very kind princess, including to her step mother. In Mirror Mirror, Snow White is still a mild princess, but no longer weak and kind to her step mother; she is a brave princess and dare to fight her step mother now. I can say that the Snow White story in Mirror Mirror is not changing, but totally different. You have to watch the movie if you want to know the differences.
The story in this movie is still same as the fairytale. Snow White (Lily Collins) born and her mother died, her father married again, unfortunately with a wicked witch (Julia Roberts). That wicked witch, her step mother, got rid of the king and led the kingdom arbitrarily. That wicked witch still had her magic mirror to ask for who the most beautiful woman in the world is which always said her name as the answer. There is no alternation to the story, but as I said before, the story is really different and you must be surprise.
One thing that I think is not appropriate is at the beginning where the wicked witch said that the story is more about her and less about Snow White. The thing that I expect after heard that is I will know more story about the wicked witch who became the Queen, such as who her parents are, how she met the King, whether she is poor or rich before met the King, or how she became a witch. Unfortunately, I did not get one of those, and I think this movie is not telling more about the wicked witch, but still about Snow White with so many differences and the wicked witch get more scenes, not just a part as the mean Queen or the old lady who give a poison apple to Snow White, she gets more.
Snow White will not be complete without her Prince (Armie Hammer) and the seven dwarfs. The seven dwarfs are no longer Dopey, Sleepy, Doc, Bashfull, Sneazy, Happy, and Grumpy; they have new names. They are cooler, funnier and having different characteristics, but still they are short. Easy, the Prince still exists in this movie, but he is not the saviour of Snow White anymore, better than that Snow White becomes his saviour. A bit odd, huh? But wait until the end, you will see Snow White sings and dances with Indian music. A happy ending does not need to be in accordance with your mind, right?
